Reasonable Adjustment Request

Reasonable Adjustment and Special Consideration (RASC) Request Form

Use this form to request:

  • A reasonable adjustment for an exam or assessment
  • Special consideration where illness, injury or unexpected circumstances affected you around the time of an exam or assessment

This form is for exam and assessment arrangements. It is separate from any access, support or reasonable adjustment information you may have provided on your course application or enrolment form.

Information provided during application or enrolment is used to support teaching, learning, communication and participation during the course. It does not automatically create an approved reasonable adjustment for an exam or assessment.

Reasonable adjustments for exams and assessments must be requested before the assessment takes place. Requests made after an assessment has taken place will not normally be applied retrospectively and will not normally be accepted as grounds for appeal.

For Signature qualifications, reasonable adjustment requests for exams and assessments may need to be approved by Signature before they can be applied. This includes internal assessments where Signature rules require approval. BSL First may need to share relevant information and supporting evidence with Signature or another awarding organisation as part of this process.

Special consideration may be considered where you experienced illness, injury or unexpected circumstances around the time of an assessment. Special consideration does not automatically entitle you to a pass, refund, free resit, extension, deferral or change of result.

BSL First will contact you with an update once your request has been reviewed. Where approval from Signature or another awarding organisation is required, this may take several weeks. Please check your junk/spam folder.

Section 3: Assessment details

Some description about this section

Reasonable adjustments cannot normally be applied retrospectively after an assessment has taken place. BSL First will review the information you provide, but a late reasonable adjustment request will not normally be accepted as grounds for appeal unless BSL First accepts that exceptional circumstances prevented you from making the request before the assessment.

If the assessment has already taken place, reasonable adjustments cannot normally be applied retrospectively.

Please give as much detail as possible so BSL First can decide which policy or process applies.

Section 6: Supporting Evidence

For exam reasonable adjustments, Signature or another awarding organisation may require medical, diagnostic or professional evidence before the adjustment can be approved.
