Interpreting courses

  • Are there holidays during the course?

There are no fixed holidays for the face-to-face course, as the teaching blocks are fixed.

For the online course, which is delivered in a weekly format, there will be breaks during the course to accommodate summer, Christmas and Easter holidays, as well as half terms and bank holidays. The holiday dates are decided by the course teacher. You can see when the holiday dates are scheduled on Moodle.

We try our best to schedule courses with holidays in mind, but please be aware that holidays are not included in the total number of sessions. For example, if your course is 25 weeks, then this is 25 lessons, not including holidays. If there are holidays during the course, this will prolong the total length of the course.

For example, the Level 1 BSL course is 25 weeks (25 lessons). There are 2 weeks of Easter holidays, 1 week half term and 1 bank holiday during the course. This is a total of 4 weeks of holiday during the course. This means the total length of the course will be 29 weeks including holidays (25 weeks of class + 4 weeks of holiday).
